|I know that a few of these rules can seem rather limiting, but please keep in mind that since this group is about a very specific thing, they kind of have to be in order to keep up the spirit of the group. There are plenty of wonderful general Pokemon art groups out there, but to my knowledge (correct me if I am wrong) this group is the first of its kind.|
Since this group celebrates the Pokemon that are often too harshly judged based on how they look, all pictures submitted to the group must have at least one such Pokemon in them. Based on the kind of picture, it will go to one of the following folders...
General artwork: pretty much what it sounds like. Any pictures with “Ugly” Pokemon that do not fit into any of the other categories go here.
Pride pictures: these pictures feature the “Ugly” Pokemon being proud of who they are.
Love pictures: Pictures showing love for “Ugly” Pokemon.
User pictures: Pictures of Pokemon trainers and their “Ugly” Pokemon.
OC pictures: Pictures of “Ugly” Pokemon OCs.
More to be added as seen fit...
Now, the definition of an “Ugly” Pokemon can vary greatly from person to person, and is largely based on opinion. The ugliest Pokemon to one person can be the coolest looking Pokemon ever to another. But what this group considers to be an “Ugly” Pokemon is a Pokemon that is disliked by a good chunk of the Pokemon community because they think it is too “ugly” or “stupid-looking” or “derpy.” And while it can be said that any Pokemon can be found ugly by at least one person, the Pokemon that this group celebrates are those that are kind of KNOWN for being considered ugly.
Example 1: Probopass is often ridiculed for its mustache, and has topped many people's ugliest Pokemon list (I checked) because of it. This is a Pokemon that we will celebrate.
Example 2: Mijumaru/Oshawott is often called “derpy” or “stupid-looking” and many people will not be choosing it as their Black and White starter because of it. This Pokemon, we will also celebrate.
Example 3: Many people consider Pikachu to be “ugly” or “stupid-looking” but in spite of these people, it is still one of the most popular, most well-loved Pokemon. When you consider what the Pokemon community thinks of Pikachu as a whole, you can hardly say that it is under-appreciated because of the way it looks.
Many Pokemon are disliked for plenty of other reasons: they can be either too weak or even too powerful/cheap in battle, or various other reasons, and while they deserve love too, they are not what this group is about.
If you submit a picture and it gets rejected because it does not fit these guidelines, but you think you can make a case for the picture, you are free to do so, and we will listen.
The following will not be accepted to the group at all:
Hateful/offensive art of any kind. This of course includes hate art directed towards “Ugly Pokemon” but also against specific people.
18+ artwork. This does not only include images marked with an 18+ tag, but any images that the staff deems as 18+, even without the appropriate tag.
Pokemon redesigns. This includes both redesigns of “Ugly” Pokemon to make them look cute or cool, and vice versa. This, however, does NOT include pictures of “Ugly” Pokemon where the Pokemon is made to look cute or cool without actually being redesigned. It also does not include any “Ugly” Pokemon OCs that have unique characteristics, unless it gets to the point where it doesn't look that much like the original Pokemon anymore.
And, of course, any artwork that is against dA's rules in any way shape or form.
These rules are subject to change.
